US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program

US Youth Soccer ODP Selections for players born 1991 – 1993

(Selection for the 1994 – 1996 age group has been postponed to May 21, 2008)

May 7, 2008

Thank you to the players (and their families) who participated in this year’s identification process. Programming will continue for those players selected to pools May-July. From the age group pools, we will determine who will travel to regional camp in July in Illinois. This year, Minnesota will take more players to the US Youth Soccer ODP regional camps than any other state in the Midwest.

We would like to thank the club coaches for their support of their players. Time away from club programming can often times be difficult to manage and whenever clubs can provide for their players to experience US Youth Soccer ODP, it can be a clear benefit to the individual.

The US Youth Soccer ODP process at a state level spans six years. We appreciate seeing players come back annually as well as seeing new faces. Thus, we encourage every player to continue to tryout for selection year after year through their eligibility. At the highest end of youth soccer, US Youth Soccer ODP remains the number one identification process for the USSF National Teams.

For our older players who came out this year, we encourage all of you to indicate on your soccer/college resumes that you are a “Minnesota US Youth Soccer ODP Participant.” Please feel free to list the MYSA State Director of Coaching as a reference. We receive many calls from college coaches and will reference or pass along inquiries to support all of you in your college searches.

The best types of players to coach are those that want to be there. For this US Youth Soccer ODP season, approximately 1,200 players identified their interest and willingness to work hard. While we unfortunately cannot keep all of the players in the program, as we move forward every player’s contribution is meaningful and fully appreciated by our staff. We wish all the players a healthy and productive season, look forward to working with those players selected here and seeing all of the 1992-1997’s next season.

Please note that post-ODP identification mailings will only be sent to invitees listed here on the MYSA website. If your child is identified here but does not receive a mailing by May 14, please contact the MYSA office (952-933-2384 or 800-366-6972).

Thank you to all the players and parents for their enthusiasm and efforts.
