WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Goalkeepers who are….

  • 14 years old and older including current college goalkeepers
  • Highly committed and highly self-motivated to train as a goalkeeper and looking for a highly demanding training environment
  • Preparing for US Youth Soccer Region II Championships, ODP Region Camp, Premier league play, college preseason, and similar levels of play
NEW FOR 2008: THE SHUTOUT DIVISION

Specialized division of MN GK CHALLENGE for goalkeepers seeking the most demanding training environment available. -LIMITED ENROLLMENT-

  • 16 years of age and older AND Current College GKs
  • Lower coach to goalkeeper ratio
  • Increased emphasis on leadership, training ethic and tactical play

To Apply: Submit two letters of reference from coaches speaking to your ability, playing resume, and one page goal statement as a goalkeeper with MN GK CHALLENGE registration form.

Deadline: MARCH 1, 2008

Notification of Acceptance: APRIL 1, 2008
*Those not accepted into Shutout Division are eligible for rolling admission into general camp based on date that application was received.

 

CURRICULUM:
  • Shot-stopping: Catching, diving, tipping, parrying
  • Breakaway Saves: Responding to 1v1 and 2v1 situations
  • Dominating the 18 yd Box: Dealing with crossing situations
  • Being the 1st Attacker: Technique and tactics of throwing, dropkicks, punts, and goal kicks
  • Leading from Behind: Organizing as a mode of shot-stopping, dealing with back passes, and playing the ball at your feet.

  • The highest quality Goalkeeping staff assembled for a goalkeeping camp offered in Minnesota—experienced coaching and playing at the US National, professional, and Division I Levels.
  • Daily on-the-field technical and tactical instruction designed to challenge the player physically and mentally.
  • Daily classroom lectures and video analysis on topics of the day including video of the actual camp training sessions.
  • Daily physical training featuring speed, agility, and plyometric work as well as a demanding self-training series.
  • Adidas Goalkeeper Jersey and T-shirt
  • In-person, one-on-one evaluation with staff coach
  • Goalkeeper War Tournament
DAILY SCHEDULE:
7:45am Arrive at camp
8–9:00 am Physical Training
9–11:00 am Training Topic I
11–12:00 pm Lunch (provided)
12–1:00 pm Lecture/Classroom
1–3:00 pm Training Topic II
3:05 pm Departure from camp

Camp ends early enough to allow goalkeepers to attend team training/games in the evening.

ACCOMMODATIONS AVAILABLE: Off-site hotel accommodations will be made available close to the camp site for interested players and their parent/guardian (if under 18). Accommodation costs are not included in the registration fee. Please make a notation on the registration form for more information. This is NOT a residential camp. Parent/Guardians are responsible for the supervision of participants under the age of 18 who choose to stay in the hotel each evening.

THIS IS A DEMANDING CAMP—PLAYERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO COME IN GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION AND A WILLINGNESS TO LEARN!

Camp Fees: $385 Prior to May 1 ($435 after May 1)

Registration: Limit of 60 total goalkeepers

This camp has filled to capacity each year very early, a waitlist will be formed. Remit completed registration form, non-refundable deposit of $200 and relevant application materials (Shutout Division) to MYSA c/o MN Goalkeeping Challenge, 11577 Encore Circle, Minnetonka MN 55343. Make checks payable to MYSA.
